IBLA New York Winners at Carnegie Hall
"......Zuzana Simurdova from the CzechRepublic was the winner of the Competition’s 2010 Chopin prize. She has an interesting take on the Polish master – a more considered approach in which she lets the music breathe and resonate. This is not Chopin in a hurry and Zuzana is a musician following her won path, which I generally consider a good thing. She showed a fine sense of dynamics and a strong and flexible approach to the keyboard...."

......There were three pianists (a Czech woman, Finnish woman, Russian man– all likely younger than 30), an accordionist (younger), and a cellist (17. 17!!) The Czech woman, Simurdova Zuzana, played Chopin (and won the Chopin award, as I find with some research) and– and what can I say about it? Within about 45 seconds of her piece the only thing keeping me from crying (literally) was that I was surrounded by people that I knew and may have looked at me with concern. I debated allowing myself to cry tears of happiness.

"......new piano album -- *Préludes à un pays vrai* -- is a real treasure! The music is beautiful throughout, exquisitely crafted, and
sensitively performed by Czech-Canadian virtuosa Zuzana Simurdova.
These are among the most inspired keyboard pieces I've been privileged to hear in recent years....."
